 The power of Five by Alex Lindell was an exciting start to a different kind of story about mortals and Fae. Alex creates a new world where Fae exist and where they don't interact with mortals. This book takes us on a journey with Lera a mortal female, and four fae males River, Coal, Tye, and Shade. The males are part of an elite quint of warriors that is supposed to made up of all males and all fae. They have been waiting a decade for their new fifth to be chosen for them by magic. To their surprise though the magic chose a mortal female. We are brought on a journey with the quint to try and get some answers, and figure out how the magic could have chosen a mortal. This book was great from page one. I love the take on the fae world, and the imagery the author brings about for us. I for one can’t wait for the next installment!   A Consort of Thorns by Eva Chase is book two in the Witch's Consort series. This book continues right where book one leaves off and unveils so many more secrets and betrayals.Brings some old friends back into the picture, has some steamy scenes. And digs deeper into the rules of the witching world that the author has created for us. The world that Eva Chase has created for us is a different sort of witching world, where you have to wait until you are married to a witching male ( before one's twenty fifth birthday) before you can get your magic and where only women have magic. Rose Hallowell has found a way around these rules and is about to make a statement in the witching world! The book has a new take on witches and where their powers come from. This book follows Rose Hallowell as she moves back to her childhood estate where she will be married in a few short months to a man her stepmother arranged for her to marry. In this book we get to meet some of the guys from Rose’s past that she has been unable to forget in the years that she has been gone. These guys have definitely grown up since the last time Rose saw them and to Rose’s surprise they haven't forgotten about her at all either. The only downside is while she may still have feelings for them none of them have any magic! This book give us a new take on how these witches come into their powers. It has so many buried secrets, that we get to go on this journey with Rose uncovering secrets from the past and present. All the while learning who can be trusted and who can't! This book was a page turner from the get go and left me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next!  |
