"His icy eyes flashed and he quickly closed the space I had created between us, twisting his hand up into my hair and pulling our faces close. Our lips fused together, seemingly made for one another..."She was born to rule an empire far more vast than she had ever imagined. Hmm... I still think the first line needs work. I'm not completely happy with it. Then again, I'm pretty much perpetually unhappy with everything that I write. Working title is: Empress of the Stars. That is all for today...
So, Ednah Walters, author of the Runes series, has come up with this idea for the Runes Universe. She got a group of talented authors together to write some stories all based in the world of her Runes. I attended the reveal event on Facebook, hanging out with each author as they shared a look into their covers and blurbs about each of their respective stories in the Runes Universe. That night, I went to bed thinking, what if I had a character that lived in the universe. I pondered it over, thinking I could write about my loves Andris, or Dev (since Eirik is already taken), but the last thing I wanted to do was play with and destroy the characters Ednah had written that I loved so much. So, I went about my day, work and all that jazz when suddenly, an idea hit me. So, here it is: Her. I had resigned myself a long time ago to the fact that one day I would die. I was five years old when I first told my mother the gruesome details surrounding my impending death and the angels that would be there to cross me over to the other side. I still remember the horrified look on her face. Fifteen years had passed, but they were coming. He was coming. For me. Him. Every day, morning till night, it’s the same old song and dance. Reaping souls was a full time business, keeping the unruly souls in line was overtime. Then she showed up on my list. It was her. Time had gone by, she didn’t look the same, nor did she remember, but I would recognize her anywhere. Five hundred years have passed, but I wasn’t giving up. I was coming. For her. Is it perfect? Not by any means. I'm not a published author by any stretch of the imagination. But it was an idea in my head that I wanted to get down on paper. Will I expand on it? Who knows? Maybe for fun, since the whole premise was based on a world I didn't create and would never take credit for. But the chances you will ever see this blurb on the back of a book is slim to none. But it'll be fun to explore the Runes Universe myself either way.
“I am no threat to your people, most of them anyways. That one behind you though, she’s a different story. That one will be mine, in every way,” he grinned devilishly, looking down on me from over my brother’s shoulder.Hi everyone! I've started this section for my writing. I don't know how often this will be updated, because to be honest, I don't know how often I'll feel comfortable sharing things that I've written. For most of my life, I've kept the things I've written to myself. I always have so many ideas rattling around in my head, words that sometimes have a hard time finding their way onto paper and if they do it's like a constant war in my head of whether or not it's good enough. I spend way to much time editing scenes and paragraphs over and over. I've hesitated posting in the past because what if that one time I come up with something really awesome and someone feels the need to steal it from me because I posted it on a public forum?
But if the feeling arises, I will be sharing stuff here. Whether it be a thought, a character, a scene, a short story. It'll find it's way here, if I deem it worthy of a public audience. If you do decide to read anything I write, I do hope you enjoy it. You may not, and that's alright, not everyone enjoys the same cup of tea. I just ask that you be kind and constructive in your comments, should you choose to leave one. That being said... I'm working on a story about shifters currently. It's my favorite of the ideas rolling around in my head. Is it wrong that I've written a blurb for the book but have yet to even begin carving out a bulk of the plot? I mean, I know what I want to happen, it just hasn't made it onto paper yet. I also have a title, which some day I may reveal. Also, do any writers in the building work on more than one novel at a time? Just asking for a friend. No, really, I just have another idea that I'm also working on and I'm not sure if I should just concentrate on one at a time or if it's normal that I just work on each back and forth as things come to me. And yes, the title of this blog is a Fall Out Boy song... Take This To Your Grave is one of my favorite albums of all time! Until next time... Ainsley |
