"Believe it or not, I want to be part of your ‘no girls allowed’ club even less than you want me here. But you can’t keep me in the dark.”
Deborah Wilde’s the Unlikeable Demon Hunter for me started off a bit slow, and took me a little bit to get into but let me tell you, once it picked up I was not able to put it down! I love Nava as the main character she is dysfunctional, has no filter, just wants somewhere to belong, and to make her brother happy. She pulls crazy stunts, truly has no filter, says what she is thinking without a care, and has to learn to balance her old life as well as her new life as the first Rasha Demon Hunter.
This book brings you through the first few weeks of Nava being a Demon hunter. This has always been a boys only club until somehow she is the chosen one at her brother’s imitation ceremony. Now after she accidentally kills a demon, demons are after her, and to make matters worse they want her even more because she is the first female demon hunter. Nava has to start from the beginning, where all other initiates have been training for this their whole lives Nava is just starting.
This book also has Rohan, the hot ex rock star with a secret past that Nava is extremely attracted to. I enjoyed the dynamic between the two and the sexual tension between them is clearly present and funny in the way Nava is feeling and interrupting it.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a serious yet funny read. Wilde shows you a world with demons and secret demon hunter’s trying to keep the world safe. I for one can’t wait to read the next book!
