With her debut novel, Stealing Beauty, book one in the Fairy Tales After Dark series, hitting shelves in March 2017, Jessica has proven herself to be an up-and-coming (pardon the pun) romance author. Jessica draws inspiration from her eclectic background: a student athlete, a licensed mental health therapist, an animal-rights advocate (ok, as much as she's tried going vegetarian, she's just not there yet), and an avid lover of books have allowed her to create the realistic world for her Fairy Tales After Dark characters. She currently lives in New Jersey with her incredibly supportive husband (let's be honest, he enjoys the *ahem* research *ahem* he gets to assist with) and the love of their life - their pitbull. In her free time, she enjoys watching horror movies, taking baths, playing old-school Nintendo on her computer, and appreciating life. In her Fairy Tales After Dark series, Jessica has combined classic characters with sizzling situations to create a world the reader wishes they were a part of. Alpha males, confident heroines, amazing friendships, and fan-worthy sex combine with enough tension to keep you on the edge of your panty-soaked seat all night long. Discover how each tale is rewritten into today's world as the characters search for their happy ending - in more ways than one. Desire... danger... and a whole lotta heat. Having a published book. I will forever be a "published author" and for me, that's success.
My dog. She's my bestie - an 80lb pittie/boxer mix and she just NEEDS attention. I'll be on the computer and she comes in, rests her little head on my leg, gives me those puppy eyes (even at age 7, she's got them. Damn pit bulls and their adorable faces!), and I need to get up and hang with her. I'd get so much more done if she just understood "mommy's writing, love". (She's actually next to me, whining for attention as I type this!)
This might be awful, but I write what *I* want. I'm an avid reader, which is why I decided to start writing. I love romance, erotic romance especially, but I hated the "all sex no plot" thing I saw happening. I wanted a story. I wanted a build up, and drama, and angst. And I wanted hot, steamy, melt-your-panties sex. I just didn't want the sex to be so over the top and so constant I was skipping pages. I started writing and sent some chapters to friends and they loved it, and I thought, hmmm... maybe I do have something here.
Have confidence in yourself. There is nothing to be scared of.
I love a good bubble bath with some wine. I'm a sucker for chocolate. I play Nintendo games on my computer emulator, like, every day. Of course, I love spending time with my husband and dog. And eating. I'm a big fan of food.
I think it's all about being realistic. I want characters who I can fall in love with, not because they're perfect, but because they're flawed. I want to be so connected I can imagine them as my best friends, or my own boyfriend. I want to laugh and cry with them. Even cringe with them! I think to be that connected to a story because you can imagine it actually happening - to you - is the best feeling.
For right now, I'm writing part-time, but I wish I could write full-time. I do work full-time as a Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LPC) - I'm a crisis counselor, so my role is to work with people experiencing depression, anxiety, suicidal thinking, psychosis, and help them through their symptoms while staying out of the hospital. I love my job because of the people, but I would LOVE to write full-time instead!
I do, but I don't want to potentially piss off a big name author! Let's just say there's a super popular book which I completely loathe because of how it portrays an entire community.
Romance, of course. And then Horror. I love a good scary story.
Stalk me, please!
